COMMUNITY TREE PLANTING DAY 2026 – LAUNCHING THE "BAMBOO AGAINST FLOOD" PROJECT IN TAY NGHE AN

[NGHE AN] On March 1, 2026, in Tam Quang commune, Nghe An, TreeBank's "Community Tree Planting Day" initiative officially entered its third year. The event recorded the largest scale of resource mobilization of the initiative so far with nearly 21,000 bamboo trees from the companionship of more than 30 businesses and educational institutions. This is the milestone of the launch of the strategic project "Bamboo Against Floods" – an ecological solution combining livelihoods to strengthen the resilience of natural disasters in the flooded area of Tay Nghe An.

A record of cross-layered connectivity power

Initiated in spring 2024, "3/3 Tree Planting Day" inherits the tradition of "Tree Planting Festival", aiming to connect the community and sow kindness at the beginning of the year. After three years of implementation, Community Tree Planting Day 2026 (NTCCĐ26) has proven its strong attraction when attracting the largest number of local partners, businesses, communities, and schools to accompany and participate in the field ever. The program was organized by RED, OMverse, BeeSea and Minh Long Wood, based on the consensus and direct support from the Nghe An Department of Agriculture and Environment, with the companionship of the People's Committees of 30A communes including Tam Quang, Tuong Duong, Muong Tip and Luong Minh.

The strength of this year's project lies in the diverse network of business partners, spanning from the fields of finance, transportation to consumption: Vietnam Airlines, Vietcap, VPBank, OPES, MB Bank, MoMo, Phe La, Hoa Linh Pharmaceutical, Bao Thanh, Co Ca Hoa La, Cariny, Austdoor Group, Concordia International School Hanoi have created financial resources to realize forests protection. In addition, service and media units such as Vinama, Goldsun, Chicilon Media, Saigontourist Travel and GT:Hub help the message of "sustainable livelihoods" reach millions of people across the country.

The emphasis of the program lies in the power of mobilizing community resources. Of the nearly 21,000 bamboo trees mobilized, more than 4,000 trees were directly contributed by thousands of individuals from the campaigns "Redeem MB Star points", "I support Community Tree Planting Day". In particular, the movement "Red Packet Chi Chi – Planting bamboo against floods" attracted the participation of students, especially from international schools such as Brighton College Vietnam, Concordia. A bamboo tree planted is also a lesson about environmental responsibility. Dang Ngoc Gia Han and Duong Nhat Duy, representatives of the LiTu (Leaf It To Us) student group at Concordia International School, shared: "This year, instead of spending on things for ourselves, we chose to donate to support TreeBank's flood-proof bamboo project. By combining the group's fundraising money with personal contributions, we have donated 900 bamboo trees with Austdoor. We hope this donation will make a positive impact, no matter how small!"

Flood-resistant bamboo from community seeds

Within the framework of "Community Tree Planting Day", TreeBank also launched "Bamboo Against Floods" to plant bamboo in riverside areas and alluvial flats vulnerable to natural disasters in the Central and Northern regions. Mr. Tran Nhat Minh, Chairman of TreeBank shared: "In the previous period, TreeBank implemented campaigns to mobilize community participation and test practical models. These activities have provided an empirical and practical foundation for the development of long-term intervention models. On that basis, the "Bamboo against floods" project is built to integrate nature-based solutions with sustainable livelihood development."

The project was launched in Tay Nghe An in an effort to support people to recover from the damage of last year's historic floods. Ms. Kha Thi Hien, Vice Chairwoman of Tam Quang Commune People's Committee affirmed: "In the face of unusual natural disasters, the project not only helps to form protective bamboo strips to reduce erosion but also opens up the way out of poverty from bamboo products. This is a solution that both protects the environment and contributes to stabilizing the lives of people in flooded areas." Next, the bamboo trees were handed over to local people to take care of under the technical guidance of TreeBank's team of experts.

Individuals and organizations in remote areas can respond to Community Tree Planting Day by planting trees where they live and sharing photos with the community with the hashtag #NgayTrongCay33#NgayTrongCayCongDong) or donating "Bamboo Against Floods" to TreeBank MBBank's charity account – 2502!
